Rock For A Cure 2011

This years event was a very special one for all of us. TRA joined this show because a dear friend of mine, Mr. David Ratzin of Eastside Sound & Stage told me about it a few months back. When he offered the chance for us to be a part of it, we gladly accepted. We work with a lot of charities throughout the year but this one holds a special place in our hearts. I had the pleasure of working with David and enjoyed getting to know him and his family in the process, ES&S was the sponsor of this years Southern Arizona Acoustic Battle. David has three beautiful children who have all been diagnosed with PKD, please visit the website for more details. (http://www.pkdcure.org/) So as you can tell we were very honored to have participated and contributed to the PKD Foundation.

This years Rock For A Cure was also amazing because of all the obstacles that almost made this event impossible. Saturday April 9th was Tucson's coldest rainiest day in history! But we still made it happen, thanks to all the band members who showed up early, and all the family and friends who helped get setup at the park. In the chilliest moments we still had the music flowing and people gathering closer together to share the love and the warmth. The bands alone were great enough to make this event special; Mr Martin Tanner, Blazing Edisons, Funky Bonz, Finding Clarity, and the great Ben Michaels. All gave stellar performances and kept the crowd cheering throughout the whole day.

One band, or should I say one band member... Truly rocked for the spirit of giving, Mr Brent Kort from Funky Bonz was not only singing his heart out, but he donated something that took a long tome for him to obtain. His hair!!! Donated to Locks of Love he cut over 13 inches of hair off for the charity, what a great guy!

We could not have done this event without the help and contributions of a few special friends of ours. Moon Smoke Shop donated prizes and raffle items for the crowd, Venzo's Pizza donated 10 Extra-Large amazingly wonderful pizzas that you could have used as a blanket they were so big... And Dickmans were barbecuing in style with its hearty burgers, dogs, and brats... Thank you so much for the contributions, we will be fans of your establishments for life!

As much fun as we had at this event we almost forgot how much planning, hard work, and dedication it takes to do something like this. But you can tell that the people who showed up to this event, truly understood that and wanted to show their appreciation in forms of cash donations. With our help, David Ratzin and his family were able to raise almost $1000 dollars toward the event and charity, this is a truly amazing amount of donations based upon how many were actually in attendance.

I can truly say I am proud to be a Tucsonian and would never turn down an opportunity to help this community in any way possible. You people inspire us at TRA to do bigger and better things and believe us when we say that there will be a lot more support from us in the future when it comes to charity events.
